Mother 34, children 9

Rusha and her nine children - eight girls and one boy (the third youngest, in orange ACADEMY sweater) live in a two-room house. She cleans houses in Chandigarh to help make ends meet, yet she and her husband feel they can only afford one package of milk per day - which goes to the baby. Meanwhile, the other children have a starch heavy diet with most meals consisting of chapatis and potatoes.
The DIR Health Promoters make a point of holding cooking demonstrations in her courtyard to show recipes she can prepare for only two rupees per person.
