A simple solution for treating dehydration

The combination of unsanitary water and suppressed immune systems due to malnutrition makes residents of the bustee particularly susceptible to diarrheal diseases. These Health Promoters are teaching women how to make an effective oral rehydration solution with ingredients they have in their kitchens: salt, sugar and lemon. They emphasize the importance of using bottled or boiled water.
In the child-to-child health programme, the HPs give the same lesson to children aged 9 to 13, who are then expected to demonstrate the recipe to their own families and to friends who are responsible for child care.
